Rod Grierson

Rod takes a client centered approach to the practice of family law. He advocates for his clients by helping them craft a resolution to their family law issues that will work for them in the short, medium, and long-term, without unnecessarily contributing to an inherently conflictual process. He understands that in many instances resolution of a client’s legal issues is only the beginning of the process. Rod recognizes that due to shared children, and for a host of other reasons, the relationship with the other party may continue for many years to come. A client centered approach to practice understands this reality and considers clients’ future goals and well-being in every step of the process.

Rod is committed to alternative dispute mechanisms such as collaborative practice and mediation to resolve issues quickly and efficiently in a cost-effective manner. He also recognizes that alternative dispute mechanisms may not be appropriate in all instances. In which case, he advocates for clients to allow them to navigate the court process in higher conflict situations.

Rod completed his law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to attending law school, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in international development studies from Trent University.

Prior to joining Galbraith Family Law, Rod worked as an associate at a full-service firm in Barrie. Rod’s passion for family law was born out of his experiences in law school. While there he volunteered at family court assisting low-income individuals complete their court documents, worked at the legal aid clinic on campus, and assisted refugees and asylum seekers prepare for their hearings.

While away from the office Rod can be found spending time with his wife, chasing around his two young daughters, cycling throughout Peterborough County, meditating, and discovering new podcasts. Rod is a member of the Simcoe County Law Association.
